The captain of Paris Saint-Germain Thiago Silva underwent surgery on his right knee, which means he could miss this summer’s Copa America confirmed by PSG.
Silva couldn’t play in the Coupe de France defeat against Rennes on Sunday. Also, the defender has been sidelined since April 14, when he limped out after 16 minutes of PSG’s embarrassing 5-1 defeat at second-placed Lille.
He is now expected to undergo surgery which would count him out for the season. Moreover, the 34-year-old could miss about two to three months of action post the surgical treatment as per L’Equipe report.
In the absence of the defender, Thomas Tuchel’s thin squadron has struggled a lot, and now Silva’s injury gave another distress to the team. All this indicates that PSG will be without Silva for the remainder of the campaign as well.
Copa America will be held between 14th June and 7th July, and currently, Brazil is one of the top favorites to make it to the victory in the tournament.
